What is Direct Access?

Did you know you can reap the benefits of physical therapy without having a referral from a physician? Yep, that’s right. With direct access, patients can access physical therapy services for evaluation and treatment without having a physician referral. Arizona is one of 20 states with no restrictions or limitations whatsoever for treatment without a referral. 1

Why should you have to wait to see your doctor to get a referral when you can simply schedule through the physical therapy clinic directly? Having to wait for a referral to see a physical therapist can cause unnecessary delays in getting the care you need. Direct access allows patients to cut out the middle man and get on the path to recovery sooner.

Complimentary Movement Assessment

Are you wondering if you could benefit from physical therapy or hand therapy but you are not sure where to start? Luckily, we offer complimentary movement assessments right here at Spooner Physical Therapy.

Seeing a physical therapist or hand therapist first for your injury, aches or pains can save you a tremendous amount of time and money. It may even get you moving and feeling better than you ever thought you could!

You also might be wondering what you can expect at your movement assessment. A movement assessment, or complimentary screening, is a 15-to-20-minute consultation with a member of our team of movement specialists. During the assessment, you and your therapist will discuss your concerns, take a quick look at how you move, and assess your discomfort. After the assessment, we will suggest options to address your concerns and together we will create a plan to help you return to moving better and feeling better while doing the things you love. If it turns out you need to see a specialist, our team will leverage relationships we have established throughout the valley to get you connected with the best doctor to address your concerns.
