BEYOND PHYSICAL THERAPY
Functional Integrated Training (FIT) is Spooner’s specialized team of personal trainers. We recognize that rehabilitation is only a fraction of the spectrum of movement health. Prevention, performance, and general health and wellness are key areas for individuals to move better and feel better.
Our FIT Trainers work with our therapy professionals to understand the needs of clients transitioning from therapy to training. The FIT program is not exclusively a bridge program between therapy and your long-term health. Our trainers work with clients of all backgrounds, both in-person and remotely, to achieve your health and fitness goals, ranging from a one-time consult to a long-term solution.
IF WE TREAT EVERYTHING, WE TRAIN EVERYTHING
With our therapy services spanning different specialties, our FIT Trainers range in specialty certifications and niche interests including Parkinson’s, nutrition, golf performance, boxing, soccer, youth athletes, yoga, those battling cancer, and more.
Spooner FIT Trainers have clinical experience working alongside Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and other medical professionals. This experience, matched with a passion for movement and continuous learning, equates to our FIT Trainers having an elevated level of understanding to the needs and complexities associated with various medical conditions.
PREVENTION
Just as it’s encouraged to visit a dental hygienist bi-annually to prevent oral hygiene issues, what if we approached our musculoskeletal system the same way?
Regardless of age, occupation, or hobbies, we believe there is a benefit to catching and addressing musculoskeletal issues early on before they become larger ones. Our FIT Trainers can identify and address potential issues using movement screens, sport-specific tests, and biomechanical analysis and provide corrective exercise strategies individually tailored to you.
We have experience with:
- Competitive Athletes: Approaching a sports season or a single athletic event, we believe it’s vital to prepare appropriately in order to reduce the risk of an injury or discomfort and elevate the ceiling for performance.
- Active Aging: The seasoned athlete has unique needs. Balance, fall prevention and recovery strategies, osteopenia/osteoporosis, and sarcopenia, are just some of the considerations towards an aging individual.
- General Aches/Pains: Is your low back just “a little tight”? Or your shoulder bug you slightly after your round of golf? We all have those minor things we “live with” that end up becoming bigger issues down the road. It doesn’t have to be that way! FIT Trainers have strategies to help with these minor musculoskeletal irritations and work with our therapy professionals if they feel you may need more advanced care.
PERFORMANCE
Looking to improve your sport metrics? We’re here to help you jump higher, run faster, throw harder, and more!
Many of our FIT Trainers are Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and have completed additional training in sports performance.
Whether you’re a golfer looking to fight off the nagging pains that are holding you back in your favorite pastime, a runner preparing for the big race, or a competitive young athlete chasing the dream of a college/pro sports career, Spooner FIT has you covered. With a comprehensive assessment of your strengths, opportunities, and the specific needs of your sport, our FIT Trainers will have you on your way to a personal best with a performance program meticulously designed just for you.

FAQ
Call the Spooner location where you wish to become a gym member and schedule an orientation session and gather more information. Please note: not all Spooner locations offer gym memberships. Inquire today.
While our FIT Trainers are very skilled, a medical script is directed for therapy, which likely is not appropriate for FIT Training. We would encourage you to utilize the script for physical therapy and discuss options to supplement with a FIT Trainer from there.
Personal training is rarely covered by standard insurance plans; however, we encourage you to review your benefits to explore what options are available to you. HSA cards are additionally of the responsibility of the client/patient to look into what benefits are covered and if personal training is an acceptable expense, along with what conditions needs to be met.
