WHAT IS BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION TRAINING?
Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training utilizes a medical tourniquet to reduce blood flow to a limb. This, paired with light resistance and high repetition exercise, can result in improved muscle hypertrophy, increased muscle protein synthesis, and boosted circulation through blood vessel growth and repair.
BENEFITS
BFR does not require lifting heavy weights, so it is an effective way to gain muscle mass and strength at any level of rehabilitation. It can be used pre-and post-surgery to mitigate muscle atrophy.
