ASTYM®

WHAT IS SOFT-TISSUE THERAPY?

Soft tissue therapy offers a combination of stimulation and stretching to mobilize the body’s natural healing processes. This therapy allows for healing without injections, surgery, or other invasive treatments.

Stimulation: Instruments are used along areas of pain or dysfunction in order to smooth out damaged soft tissues and stimulate new soft tissues to be produced. You will feel bumps as the instrument is moved along your skin, but those bumps will decrease over time- indicating healing.

Stretching: Your therapist will give you a customized stretching and strengthening program designed to encourage your body to maximize the strength and agility of soft tissue. Stretching allows for the new muscle or connective fibers created to be smooth and strong.

BENEFITS

Spooner’s soft tissue therapy certified therapists will work with you to get back to activity pain free! Soft tissue therapy is non-invasive and does not require injections, medication, or surgery. A typical course of treatment lasts only four to six weeks (8-10 visits), and, during treatment, there are usually no restrictions on activity, which is a welcome change from other restrictive treatment options. Using soft tissue mobilization alongside exercise prescription and manual therapy can help you move, feel, and perform your best.
