About Me:
Drea Renteria was born and raised in the southwest farming community of Yuma, AZ. In 2012, she moved to Scottsdale to join the Spooner family as a rehab technician. It has always been Drea’s goal to be a healthcare provider, and loved being able to give care in the physical therapy setting. Growing up in Yuma, she always had a passion for athletics, training, injury rehab, and nutrition. Drea felt a career in physical therapy would be a great career pursuit that would allow her to be a component for positive change in a patient’s life. Before moving to the big city of Scottsdale, she lived in the great state of Texas to complete undergraduate studies and became a proud graduate of West Texas A&M University where she also played colligate softball. She received her Bachelor degree in Sports and Exercise Science which she thought would be great preparation for her physical therapy career. Upon graduation, Drea moved back to Yuma, AZ to pursue an additional passion of hers, coaching competitive softball and helping young female athletes get to the colligate level. She felt physical therapy and coaching go hand and hand. Not only do she get the privilege to interact with people every day but also help them achieve their personal goals, whether it was to help them find a unique, authentic and individualized system that allowed people to live a more functional life style or return to sports they love. To Drea, that is the most rewarding and most satisfying job anyone could ever have the privilege of doing. After a six-year working as a rehab tech, her dream of continuing a career as a professional in the physical therapy field was realized when she was accepted into Gateway College’s Physical Therapy Assisting program. After completing the PTA, program it seemed only right to continue with the Spooner family, and she is so happy to be here!
Her interests include breast cancer rehab as it relates close to home and also working with young female athletes because she was once a young girl with a dream.
